Il Trovatore Excerpts & Other Grand Masterpieces

Saturday 28 September 2019

The Washington Opera Society is presenting Egyptian-American soprano Fairouz Foty as Leonora in Verdi’s tragic masterpiece of treachery and intrigue. Appearing with Ms. Foty will be Spanish tenor & singing sensation Israel Lozano, bass/baritone Kevin Short who is appearing as Porgy at this year’s “Metropolitan Opera” production of Porgy & Bess, soprano Brandie Sutton who has sung with major opera houses in Europe and Mexico, and, finally, mezzo-soprano Lisa Chavez who returns to our stage after stunning performances in Aida in 2019 & as Carmen in last year’s Carmen at the Maison Française.

For the opera aficionados or the novices, you will be overwhelmed with the fine singing of this breath-taking cast without having to travel to New York or Europe.
